Start by ordering a laptop. Of course they won’t have it. But you won’t get refunded either, And they won’t answer your calls. But that won’t be enough, car thefts will try to pick your car, and left it damaged. But that’s unfinished work, so you have to crash your car, getting 100% Wrong for your part, your car destroyed. Left with no cars, no money, you have found the best way to start your year. Yeah.

Right now, all thoses computer thingies are starting to drive me nuts, being my main machine whichs hangs up randomly, being my server to totally crash, even being a quite-stable OS, and having scored many weeks uptime with the same installation, being also my laggy laptop, bloatinstalled with too many things, and therefore unusable. I need to clean up the mess. but I’m getting tired dealing with computer problems all day long.

Things that I want, more or less,
- A 512 MB or more Memory Stick Pro DUO As I now have a car, I prefer to buy a Car stereo
- An Ethernet PCMIA/CardBus card Got it from ebay [ Xircom Combo ]
- A WiFi PCMCIA/CardBus card Thanx NoZ, nice card, got it a day before my birthday !
- A Central Loudspeaker - Delayed
- A Bluetooth USB Key - Delayed, deleted If a new firmware on my K750i can make it be recognized as a standard usb flash drive
- Some SO-DIMM RAM for my new Laptop Got it from ebay too
- A Home Cinema Amp, with numeric inputs (and DTS support)
- An Overhead projector - I’ll probably have it by my High School, thanx Mr Mayer
- A new DVD Player - Delayed, the one i have works well, we’ll see if I buy a new one or recycle a PC when I get my overhead projector
- A Dreamcast Not for now
- 9.1 Go 10k RPM SCSI disks (two, for RAID0 purposes) Got one from eBay, I will probably put it in my Home Server Put an Adaptec 29160 & a 36 Gigs tenkay rpm disk in my machine
- A SCSI UW Card The SCSI Card in my Test Machine was a 2940-UW, a UW card !
- A new Keyboard I will probably change it after septemberDecember , a I got a brand new one from Logitech
- A Pocket Bike (Probably around october/november)
- A car stereo (DVD ! or CD & SD)

I do not have that much money now, got a bit on my birthday, but not a lot

I’m not that much of a gamer, but there’s some games I’m not gonna miss :

- Artificial Girl 3 hope to get a real one before it gets released.

I already had Samba up and running on my server, but a pkg_add -r samba or an apt-get install samba will do the trick if you don’t.

The most important thing is to have a basic configuration file, here’s one :

Running a test on the config file is always a good idea :

And then, restart Samba, and test it !

If someone has tricks to improve this, I’d be glad to read them

For my FreeBSD Journey, I will use a ECS G320 Laptop, VIA CLE266+VIA C3 1 Ghz, so there should be no particular problem running freebsd on this one, ATM it has a 20 GB HD, I’ll start my journey after having swapped it for a 40 GB one (5400 RPM)
It has 256 MB RAM, with 16 Shared to the GPU.

One of my aims is to have a pretty good make.conf, 1024*768 VESA Console, and a working desktop.
